Poestenkill Stream Stabilization & Habitat Restoration Project
The Poestenkill site that was once a flood risk, and lacked ideal trout habitat has been restored to an ideal site for trout. The added bonus is that the streambanks are now less prone to erosion. The addition of rock veins and root wads have added cover for trout populations , trout cover that has historically been in this section. Hours after the placement of the stones and roots district techs and voluteers assisting in the project were able to witness fish already using the newly provided cover.
